Senior Accountant II at U.S. Cellular, Chicago, IL

Directly responsible for all finance activities related to equipment sales and sales compensation.  Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and related analysis.  Act as a financial resource for Marketing, Sales, Commissions and Finance teams.  Support new product and project initiatives by identifying and implementing appropriate operational and financial processes and related controls and analysis.  Coach and develop Staff Accountants while maximizing efficiency.  Support and actively participate in various enterprise projects.

 

•  Perform analysis and review of equipment transactions, compensation transactions, related balance sheet accounts and other related activities to support financial statements and management key performance drivers. •  Recommend and implement process improvements in financial and operational processes related to equipment and compensation activities. •  Design and ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place for all Distribution Accounting processes and advise business partners to ensure sound internal controls. •  Assist development of system tools and related financial reporting processes. •  Work with and provide financial advice to Information Systems, Tax, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Financial Planning & Analysis teams to enhance business processes and systems.  •  Function as a Distribution Accounting liaison to Marketing, Sales, Tax and Operations. •  Provide timely and accurate financial information to support effective decision making. •  Represent the Controller's team on enterprise initiatives.  Provide technical and functional expertise. •  Assist in the development and coaching of Staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Bachelors Degree in Accounting, CPA
•  Minimum of 6 years of work experience, 3 years in public accounting.
•  In-depth knowledge of financial principals, practices and procedures and general accounting practices.
•  Strong verbal and written communication skills required including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership and associates. 
•  Superior PC skills in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Access and Word) required.
•  Strong analytical and decision making abilities required.
•  Ability to work independently
•  Strong appetite for change and new challenges
